The holy mace today reached Shri Buddha Amarnath Shrine at Mandi in Poonch district.
Thousands of pilgrims participated in the century old “Chharri Yatra which started from Poonch city. The Chharri Yatra is a century old tradition of Poonch and used earlier used to organisde from Tetrinote village which is Now in POK).
People walked 22 KM amidst chanting reglious slogans. About 25 thousand devotees besides hundreds of sadhus accompanied the yatra. Buddha Amarnath temple is situated on the confluence of two streams.
The mace was given guard of honour on its arrival. The Chadri Mubarak brings out communal harmony of the Poonch region as it’s welcomed by locals Muslims who participate in equal measure in this imporntant religious event.
With the arrival of Chharri yatra a two days Mela begins which culminates on the evening of Raksha Bandhan. It returns the next day
