Mamani traditional food festival is being celebrated in Kargil. It’s is observed to celebrate the end of the winters, the harsh period in this part where every thing including life too freezes .
People make traditional dishes and gather at one spot for celebration. Traditionally on this day a dish is sent to the home women married outside.
Earlier the people would offer a portion of dishes to the Holy Spirit too but that tradition has faded away to an extent. Some believe it can be be a major tourist attraction in Kargil
