Srinagar: Three persons have died and seven others were still  missing after their truck came under an avalanche in the Khardung La area of the Ladakh region.

The bodies of three persons have been recovered from the avalanche site, while a search is on for the other missing persons.

The avalanche hit the truck carrying 10 persons at the Khardung La pass in the Ladakh region at 7 am. The BRO has pressed into service its men and machinery to rescue the passengers believed to be trapped under the debris

The police, Army and State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) personnel had also reached the spot, the BRO official said. (Agencies)

In early morning CEC JTN is actively participated to remove the covered avalanche to recover the victims at Khardong La. CEC, LAHDC Leh is also in touch with the concerned Authorities and operating the rescue operation from the spot by involving SDRF, GREF, Indian Army (Padakh Scout) and local Volunteers.

CEC JTN has spoken on Divisional Commissioner Kashmir on phone and requested to send a specialised as well as well equipped SDRF Team today itself and also requested the GoC 14th Corp to bring the special rescue team from Siachen Glacier. CEC JTN has also requested the Home Minister Rajnath Singh Ji to despite a special team of NDRF today to recue6the victims.

Till now three body is recovered.
