Rich tributes were paid to thousands of martyrs of Mirpur, who had laid down their lives on Nov 25, 1947 while fighting with the Pakistani raiders. Function was organized at Mirpur Balidan Bhawan Arya Samaj Bakshi Nagar Jammu where Vedic Havan was performed with religious fervour and rich floral tributes were paid to the martyrs by recalling the unprecedented sacrifice of more than 18,000 innocent and unarmed men, women and children. Many aged speakers, who had witnessed the terrible carnage at Mirpur, recalled that time through their throat- choking speeches and pathetic poems bringing tears in the eyes of the gathering.
