The work of snow clearance on strategic NH 1 connecting UT Ladakh with rest of the world has been started by Project VIJAYAK of Border Roads Organization. Due to heavy snowfall at Zojila Pass the Highway remains closed for more than 4 months. The government is constructing a 15 km long Tunnel at Zojjila for making the Highway an all weather road which is a long pending demand of the people of Kargil.
