Ration shops as well as govt. depot in the Udhampur district are now equipped with electronic point of sale (e-POS) machines. With this, the public distribution mechanism in the district move into the Aadhaar-enabled PDS (AePDS) mode. As part of enforcing the National Food Security Act (NFSA), the e-POS machines bring in transparency in the distribution of the food grain quota and to put the stop on the corruption .
The new system also provides portability under which a ration card holder can avail ration from any shop in the city. As per the officials almost 70 % ration depot goes hi tech and 180 Pos machines were installed till date.
