Tributes were paid to Brig Rajinder Singh, who is also called “Hero of Jammu & Kashmir’ by all sections of the society including Army, Police, Civil administration and social organisations. Brig Rajinder Singh was Independent India’s first Maha Vir Chakra recipient who with a small number of about 100-odd troopers, Singh had stopped the march of Pakistani army and raiders into Kashmir and sacrificed his life on 26 October, 1947.
