Jammu: The 8th Theatre Olympics gets off to a flying start with Manoj Joshi’s play Chanakya on Mar 22.
8th Theatre Olympics is the largest international theatre festival to be held in India for the first time in India.
Two international productions and five specially invited plays by eminent theatre personalities are to be staged in Jammu
Minister for Public Works, Naeem Akhtar inaugurated 11-day long 8th Theatre Olympics .
It’s being organized by National School of Drama (NSD) under the aegis of Ministry of Culture, Government of India with support of Jammu and Kashmir Academy of Art, Culture and Languages.
Eminent theatre personality, M K Raina was the Guest of Honour on the occasion while senior faculty Member NSD, Abdul Latif Khatana; Secretary JKAACL, Dr Aziz Hajini; Additional Secretary, Arvinder Amn besides a number of theatre lovers were also present during inaugural function .
The minister urged the internet savvy youth to develop interest in books, scriptures, music, and Theatre besides developing man to man contact for better understanding of human values.
The festival would also present productions including Barff (Saurabh Shukla), Gabrighichor (Parveen Kumar Gunjan), Oondra (Rakesh Khatri), Jangal Me Khulne Wali Khirki (Prashant Khirvadkar) besides international plays The Diary of Anne Frank (Nepal) and The Last One (USA California). The festival would culminate on April 8, 2018 at Mumbai.
