India’s external affairs minister S Jaishankar said the intention for detaining political leaders in Kashmir is that politicians do not engage in any activities that could serve as a magnet for violence, as it has been the case in the past. He said social media and the internet have been used to radicalize youth. The govt wants to want to prevent the loss of life.
