Despite a ban many, several structures including multistory shopping complexes and a nursing homes are being constructed along the new alignment of Kapwara-Baramullah highway at Handwara Town.
Authorities have banned construction wwithin 100 meters on either side of the Handwara Byepass. But, like in most of the cases, laws are being flouted with impunity
To ease traffic on main highway the government decided to construct a road bypassing the Handwara Town and it was subsequently thrown open for traffic in 2014.
But, with illegal construction going on full swing under the nose of the authorities, this stretch too will become commuting nightmare once these illegal constructions get operational
