Jammu: Supreme Court lawyer Ankur Sharma accused the chief minister of giving legal immunity to forest land grabbing and cow slaughter.

Ankur said the CM Mehbooba Mufti  in recent review meeting of the tribal affairs department  directed Inspector General Jammu and all the deputy commissioners for not providing  police protection for evicting tribal people without the permission from the department.

“ It suggests state can’t take  action against any tribal if he is illegally occupying forest or state land or any private property,”  he said.

Sharma addressing a press conference in Jammu said the  review meeting was attended by top police and civil administration officials  in attendance of tribal affairs minister Zulifiqar Choudhary and his deputy from coalition partner BJP Ajay Nanda.

Sharma alleged the decision has been taken with objective of changing demographic profile of the Jammu.

“The CM through this order has made it clear if you  have definite religion no one can stop you from illegally occupying the land in the Hindu dominated Jammu region,” Sharma said.
