Over 2000 kanal of farming land in Magyote District of Udhampur is drying even after spending Rs 50 lakh on the artifical canal project (kul).The RTI filed by the locals reveals that the concerned department has spend Rs 50.16lakh on the project But till this time no benefit has been yielded by the farmers of 10 villages who are directly dependent on this canal for irrigating their agricultural land. The locals allege that the funds were not utilized properly demanding a high level inquiry against the department.
