The newly commissioned Small Hydro Project (SHP) of Kargil Renewable Energy Development Agency (KREDA), at Raru, with a capacity of 2 MW, has ensured uninterrupted power supply even as temperatures drop to -24 degrees Celsius. The project, operational since December 2024, is providing much-needed relief to residents, offering 24×7 electricity during the challenging winter months. Additionally, KREDA’s other projects, such as SHP Biaras (1.5 MW) and SHP Chilong (1 MW), are running efficiently, contributing significantly to the region’s energy stability.
