Udhampur’s forests are set for a revival as the Forest Department embarks on an ambitious plan to plant 1.1 lakh trees. This initiative follows a dry season with wildfires that caused ecological damage. “We’re committed to restoring the damage,” said Divisional Forest Officer Navneet Singh. He highlighted their ability to produce over 5 lakh saplings annually, with over 3 lakh ready for planting. This phase will see 1.1 lakh trees planted, with an additional 20,000 going towards collaborative efforts with schools, the military, and police.
