The work on world’s tallest railway bridge coming up in Reasi district over Chenab River is suspended due to legal dispute between Konkan Railways and AFCONS over cost factor,
As per the contract between AFCONS and KRCL, about 24000-25000 tonnes of steel had to be used in but after awarding the contract to AFCONS, KRCL changed the design as per which about 28000-29000 tonnes is to be used.
AFCONS has contested it and case is in arbitration. However, the local labour employed has been paid all pending dues.
