Tariq Aziz, a resident of Kud village in Udhampur district, has become a shining example of self-reliant India. Five years ago, Tariq started with just four chickens. Today, he owns over 200 chickens and roosters, which he raises and sells, earning a respectable monthly income. He has also provided employment to two other youths from his area. Tariq’s success story has taken a new turn with a recently sanctioned loan under the Rural Employment Generation Programme (REGP), a scheme launched by the Khadi & Village Industries Commission (KVIC).
