Prof A S Jasrotia, HoD Department of Remote Sensing and GIS, Jammu University in an interview with excelsior news said the Pernote and adjoining areas in Ramban are centre of witnessing tectonic activity which is being generated due to in what is called in geology called reverse fault. He said the department is generating early warning system and it will be deployed soon. Prof Jasrotia said people should not panic as it is natural disaster but construction activity should be done taking in view the present condition of the area.  More than 500 people have been relocated to safer places after over 58 houses were completely damaged due to land sinking in a Pernote village, district Ramban
