Sunflower is one of the lucrative cash crops . However, off late its production is declining in India and in Jammu region of the Jammu and Kashmir. According to statstics in India its production growth dropped by 32%. In Jammu region it was cultivated both in hills and plains but for host of reasons the production has dropped . Farmers complaint its seed is not easily available and agriculture deptt is not forthcoming . The seed is even costly and subsidy is not available.
