Srinagar: A Russian skier was killed today while four others were rescued after they came under a snow avalanche in ski resort of Gulmarg, about 55 kilometers North of Srinagar, Senior Superintendent of Police, Imtaiz Hussain said.

He said a group of five skiers from Russia came under a snow avalanche in Gulmarg sector. “However, immediately a rescue operation was launched, one of them had died while four others were rescued”, he said.

Government had issued avalanche warning last evening.

On January 8, a skier from Sweden was killed while another was rescued in Gulmarg. (Agencies)
