Islamabad, Jul 14 : Pakistan’s former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and his daughter Maryam have spent their first night in the high-security Adiala Jail in Rawalpindi and the two VIP convicts were provided “B” class facilities, media reports said today, a day after their arrest. They were arrested and taken into custody shortly after their arrival from London yesterday

As per the rules class ‘B’ consists of prisoners who by social status, education or habit of life have been accustomed to a superior mode of living.

They do not do hard labour.

The room of class A and B prisoners are usually equipped with: one cot, one chair, one teapot a shelf, and necessary washing appliances.

The expenses of facilities like  TV, air-conditioner, fridge, and newspapers are  paid by prisoners

Sharif and Maryam have been sentenced by an accountability court to 10 and 7 years in prison respectively.

Meanwhile , US has strongly condemned the attacks on political candidates and their supporters in Balochistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa

“These attacks are cowardly attempts to deprive the Pakistani people of their democratic rights,” State Department Spokesperson  said.
