Drilling of India’s first geothermal power project, a 1-megawatt pilot initiative, is set to start from 30 July at the site in Puga valley in Leh, Ladakh. This zero-carbon renewable energy project, managed by the Oil and Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC), is located in the geothermally active Puga Valley, about 190 km from Leh city, at an altitude exceeding 14,000 feet.  The plan is to drill two wells up to 1,000 metres- one for the producer and the other for the injector- to utilise the geothermal energy
