Jammu and Kashmir Police have filed a preliminary charge sheet against three hardcore criminals in connection with the killing of Sub-Inspector Deepak Sharma in Kathua district three months ago. The accused, Himanshu Bassi, Teja, and Jasvir Singh, all from Punjab, were arrested by a special investigation team (SIT) constituted by the Crime Branch Jammu. The SIT was able to crack the case with the help of Punjab Police, who tracked and arrested another accused, Rohit Kumar alias Makhan, from Jalandhar. Sub-Inspector Deepak Sharma was killed in an encounter with criminals at the Government Medical College complex in Kathua on April 2. The main accused, Vasudev alias Shannu, was also killed in the gunfight, while several of his associates managed to escape.
