The much hyped government announcement of providing air connectivity to Kargil under Udan” scheme has not take off.
Kargil residents are still made to wait for dekota service provided by the Indian army, which is the only source of connectivity during winters when the are remain landlocked and cut off from rest of the country.
The government had at the start of the year said that Udan-II will address the problem of air connectivity in the difficult areas, basically areas with hilly tracks, where road connectivity is low or probably has no train connectivity.
