The Election Commission of India has issued fresh directive to all Chief Secretaries/Chief Electoral Officers (CEOs) of States and Union Territories that officers transferred out of their home district or places where they have served for considerably long time, are not posted within the same Parliamentary constituency. The latest order of the Election Commission will lead to another set of transfers in Jammu and Kashmir where both civil and police administration had carried out large scale transfers of the officers at different levels in January and February to follow the Commission’s previous directions. Commission has fixed deadline for compliance of the order for the Chief Secretary and the Director General of Police by 3 PM on February 26.
