Independents won 8 out of the 13 seats of the Municipal Committee , Congress won 5 while BJP drew couldn’t win a single seat. There are speculations that thee independent cadidates were supported by the National Conference which had officially boycotted the municipal and panchayat elections.
Cong and NC had joined hand to share power of the LAHDC kargil. BJP had won just one seat.
