Srinagar, Nov 19: Former Chief Secretary (CS) of Jammu and Kashmir Mohammad Iqbal Khanday passed away in S K Institute of Medical Sciences (SKIMS) here early Monday morning. He was 62.
His “Nimaz Jinazah” will be held at Friends Enclave Humhama near Srinagar airport later in the day. A 1978-batch IAS officer, Mr Khanday had served as Principal Secretary to Mufti Muhammad Sayeed during his term as Chief Minister in PDP-Congress Government. He rose to the level of Chief Secretary in 2013 during National Conference-Congress Government headed by then Chief Minister Omar Abdullah. Political, social and religious leaders have expressed their grief over his demise. (Agencies)
