The restoration work underway  for opening one tube of Jawahar Tunnel on Jammu-Srinagar national highway  is likely to be completed by Wednesday evening

SSP Ramban said the extent of damage was assessed by engineers from Beacon and also by geologists and restoration work is underway .

One of the two tubes of the Jawahar Tunnel on the Jammu-Srinagar National Highway was closed on Tuesday after it developed cracks, officials said.

The officials had said that seeping caused loose rocks to fall through an unlined area within the tunnel, causing some cracks.

The authorities  had closed the tube to undertake the necessary repairs.. The traffic was allowed through the other tube .
